The 40 D arrives, and the 20D is now mine!

I have been granted the 20D.  Also a new tripod and three lenses.  If it stops raining I will take them out.

The 40D

My dad has ordered a new camera, the Canon 40D.

It arrives some time this week.  We ordered it off of B and H.  This means that his 20D will become permanently mine.  That is very exciting.  We had been sharing.  It was so funny when he looks at my brother and says, does she really need a camera?  And my brother looked at him completely dumbfounded.  He was speechless.  Looked at Dad like clearly Dad was nuts.  The image of the butterfly is one that I captured in Canada over the summer.  That was my first photographic trip.  I spent one week in Canada and one in Seattle.  I liked the butterfly gardens the best but I did also spend time in the Butchart and also the Abekhazi.  Both were fine places to shoot florals.

Victorian Christmas in Nevada City, CA

A lot of fun was to be had in Nevada City.  Carolers, fiddlers, and bagpipers abound. However, it was dark!  It was cold.  And I only shot one chips worth of pictures.  I'm using my Canon Eos 20D and did not take a tripod.  I find that they slow me down as much as anything.  I only had one lens and my flash fill kicked in for most of the day.  I can't say I actually like flash fill. Its not my idea of pretty.  I did not buy hardly anything.  I did not even get my palm read or a psychic reading.   I did pick up a two toned blue ribbon  wreathe for my friend's nieces.  There was no jewelry that spoke to me and I was looking.  The food would have been fabulous I'm sure but I'm insulin resistant and I brought my lunch with me.  There was hot cider, hot coco, potatoes and soup, hot fudge, lavender honey, fresh tacos, and kettle corn.  I was so good!  I had my little baby bel cheese, walnuts, and 1 ounce of semi sweet chocolate.  I never met up with my digital photography group, but I did meet a fiddle player that gave me the phone number of a guy that may be able to rehair my bow.

Entry 1: Ca Dreamin on Such a Winter's Day!

I'm new to the world of blogging.  I understand that phrase is web and log put together.  Here in Northern CA it is very cold.  Dry.  Clear.  And very cold.

I have a professional website elsewhere that will have a blog in the future.  However, according to my brother I need practice in the blogging style of communication, hence I now have this one to practice with.  Apparently my college education has impeded my ability to sound/write like a real person rather than a corporate about me page.
